John Mabry
JOHN R. MABRY earned his Master's Degree in Spirituality from Holy Names College in Oakland, California, in 1989, studying under such "new-paradigm" luminaries as Brian Swimme, Starhawk, and Matthew Fox. In 1997 he earned his Doctorate in World Religions from the California Institute of Integral Studies in San Francisco.
For the past fifteen years, he have served as associate pastor, and later pastor, of Grace North Church (Congregational) in Berkeley, CA. A trained spiritual director, he served his internship at the Mercy Center in Burlingame, California, and currently teaches spiritual direction, interfaith theology, and world religions at the Chaplaincy Institute for Arts and Interfaith Ministry in Berkeley, CA. He also teaches at JFK University in Pleasant Hill, CA, and at the Institute of Transpersonal Psychology in Palo Alto, CA.
In addition to editing Creation Spirituality magazine, he has also served in that capacity for Presence: The Journal of Spiritual Directors International, and as managing editor of The Pacific Church News: The Magazine of the Episcopal Diocese of California.
